Hoʻōla Hou iā Kalauao is a community organization focused on restoring ʻāina and kānaka in the ahupuaʻa of Kalauao in ʻEwa, Oʻahu.

Our vision is to see a thriving and abundant ʻEwa moku beginning with the ahupuaʻa of Kalauao.

Our Mission

Our mission is to restore identity and abundance to Kalauao in ʻEwa, Oʻahu by caring for ʻāina; growing, preparing, and eating ancestral foods; and building community through education and the return to Native Hawaiian values and cultural practices.

Grateful to host this group of kumu (educators) who have been looking intentionally at the importance of ʻāina, culture, and social justice within their classrooms and fields of influence.

Hoʻokahe wai. Today we spent intentional time clearing the poʻo ʻauwai at Kaʻōnohi. The poʻo brings water from the pūnāwai to loʻi kalo throughout the farm.

Mahalo i ke Akua for a breathtaking sunset here in Kalauao as we continue to prepare this community loʻi for planting this anahulu poepoe. Leveling in the works… E ola!

Last year we began weekly workdays where ʻohana and hoa ʻāina have been able to go deeper in understanding what it takes to truly care for and cultivate ʻāina on a consistent basis.
